It has now been six weeks since CQP initiated our campaign to encourage all members, former members and friends of the club to ‘Pitch In for the Pitches’, aiming to raise £18,000 in order to complete vital improvements to the drainage systems on all three of the club’s pitches.
The response to our appeal to members to assist has been very encouraging, and after just over a month we have raised £4000 towards our fundraising target! The women’s team organised a bake sale on a busy Saturday at the club, raising almost £300, and loose change donations into the collection buckets alone have totalled over £570! Those odd coins can really add up quickly, so please donate them when you have the chance.
A very generous donation from Glasgow-based company ResDiary gave the total a much-needed boost at the end of January, and contributions to the campaign’s crowdfunding page added over £1200 to the fund. Over 40 club members purchased new custom-fitted gumshields, not only improving player safety, but also helping to secure the future of the playing surfaces, as the £800 profits were donated to Pitch In for the Pitches! A big thank you to AdCal Dental Laboratory for producing gumshields in Cartha Queens Park and Shawlands colours at a generous rate, and to the dental team from Central Dental Care who gave their Saturday morning to take impressions.
Overall, we are making good progress towards achieving our aim of raising £18,000 and sustaining the pitches for the future of rugby at Dumbreck, but we still have a long way to go! Over the next month or so we will be hosting a Ladies Lunch, Race Night and several other events , so watch this space and keep an eye on the campaign’s facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/cqppitchin/ ) for further information!
If every member contributes towards the crowdfunding page, the total would be well within reaching distance, so if you haven’t yet done so, please donate anything you can spare at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/carthaqueensparkrfc - and don’t forget to keep filling your Smarties tubes!
As always, if you would like to get involved in the fundraising campaign, or if you run a local business and are interested in investing in the future of rugby at Dumbreck, please get in touch at cqpfundraising@gmail.com.
