Biggar v Cartha QP Sat 6oct 2018.
It was a beautiful day for rugby but it was disappointing to find that the second XV game was to be played on by some margin the smallest of Biggar's three pitches. The Biggar second pitch had been freshly lined and was not used.
Biggar kicked off but the kick did not go 10 metres resulting in a CQP scrum. CQP took their own ball and It was fed out along the line passing through several pairs of CQP hands before Etienne Boudouresques got the touchdown and then converted to give CQP a 7 point lead within two minutes of the kick off. Biggar then replied with an unconverted try. With just over ten minutes played Declan Goldie had to leave the field with a thigh strain. With fourteen minutes played CQP added a second try with Tony Nyangweso getting the credit. The try was unconverted and the score moved to 12-5. With a quarter of the game played CQP increased their lead to 19-5 when Tony Haunschmidt scored. Biggar now started to get the better of things up front and by the halftime whistle they had drawn level.
HT Biggar 19 - CQP 19
For most of the second half Biggar were on top but CQP fought hard and as the final whistle approached had conceded only two tries to put the score to 33-19. Just before the end CQP gathered the ball inside their own half, Tony Nyangweso then had a run to the line hotly pursued by several Biggar defenders but Tony'a legs held out and he got to the line first and scored close enough to the posts to give Etienne a decent chance of converting which he did.
Playing with only two subs CQP did very well to emerge from this match with two points. It was puzzling that for this important league game the two's had only been allotted two subs.
