Match report CQP v Kelso 21 Sept 2019.
Hard work on the training ground pays off big time.

CQP came into this game conscious that they had dropped the ball in the second half of their opening two games and determined to get it right this time. Kelso opened the scoring from a penalty but that proved to be it from their point of view as playing some attractive open rugby CQP ran wild scoring a total of sixteen tries of which two were penalty tries. The CQP pack completely dominated the Kelso pack and indeed at one point in the second half from their own put in drove the Kelso pack back at least twenty metres.

Ryan Flett parents were in attendance to see him score five tries followed by Graeme Docherty and Sam Harrison who scored three each. Graeme also converted seven tries. Alex Boyle brought the backs contribution up to twelve and Fraser Paul and Michael Robertson added one each by way of a forward contribution.

CQP completely dominated this game from start to finish. With the scoreboard not functioning the spectators found difficulty in ensuring that they knew the score. When the final whistle was blown a few people were surprised as there had certainly been some injury time in the second half.

One thing that was disappointing given the fine weather was the attendance possibly in part attributable to the well attended U18s game between our lads who top this league and Cumnock who at in third place before the kick off. This game resulted in a comprehensive home victory. Meantime our B Under 18’s playing away to Stewarty also won.

FT CQP 98 Kelso 3

It is a long journey from Glasgow to Kelso. Given that they had made a late cancellation of their second XV game it is clear that they probably had some player availability difficulties. It was their misfortune to find themselves facing a strong CQP squad anxious to erase the memory of defeats in their first two games. From the touchline the impression was that this was a very young and inexperienced squad of Kelso players
