CQP heavily beaten by league leaders.

This game took place on a fine dry day, ideal for fast open rugby. CQP kicked off. With only five minutes on the clock Marr broke down the right hand side and opened their account with a score by Dalglish. The try was converted by Sturgeon. CQP were finding it difficult to gain any possession and it was no surprise when Marr added a second try with 15 minutes on the clock. This unconverted try took the score to 12-0. A missed tackle on the left side saw Marr run in their third try. Marr continued to dominate and added two more tries before the break leading to a score of. 33-0 in their favour. The portents were now very ominous for CQP.

Marr kicked off on the resumption and CQP' s woes increased when they failed to gather the ball and Marr raced through to score on the left side. The procession of Marr tries was temporarily halted when in a rare CQP attack Graham Williamson got over for a try converted by Wayne Burrows. From the kick off Marr broke down the left side to score their seventh try. Seven minutes later Marr added another try to push their total points up to 52 and five minutes later they moved to 59 points with twenty minutes left in the clock. Two minutes later Ross Gillies who was making a rare appearance scored CQP's second try with eighteen minutes left. The possibility that CQP might just manage to gain a four try losing bonus point crossed the minds of the CQP optimists and CQP did indeed score one more try but by the end Marr had pushed their total points up to a humiliating eighty-five.

FT Marr 85 ( 5 points ) CQP 19 ( 0 points )

Marr totally dominated proceedings in this game and quite frankly outclassed CQP. Marr's backs attacked with great pace power and skill. Some of CQP's tackling was below an acceptable level with several missed and broken tackles. Ewan Campbell and Graham Williamson stood out in a posiitive way for CQP. This was a very hard watch for the small band of CQP supporters present.

Elsewhere as expected Hamilton went down to GHA and as a result are now relegated. The result at Kirkcaldy was a real shock as Dundee thrashed the home team 70-26. As a Consequence Dundee are now safe and CQP sit two points ahead of Kirkcaldy with each side having one game remaining. CQP will play Kelso away on April 20th but prior to that Kirkcaldy will have played Musselburgh at home. When the Musselburgh game has been played CQP will know exactly what is needed at Kelso if they are to play in National 1 next season.

The Marr result will have been very difficult for the players and coaches to take but hopefully they will pick themselves up and dust themselves down and do what is required at Kelso.
