Cartha Queen's Park v Kelso Sat 27 Oct 2018.
The match took place in ideal conditions. Kelso came into the game having won two of their last three games. Injury ravaged CQP entered the contest on the back of a run of defeats but hopeful that they might bring their losing streak to an end. The game started well for CQP when Jake Graham opened the scoring with a try which Wayne Burrows converted. Six minutes later Kelso responded with an unconverted try. They added another early in the second quarter. The try was converted to give them a 12-7 lead. CQP responded immediately with a try by Jacob Addison in the left corner. Wayne converted the difficult kick and CQP were back in the lead 14-12. Just before the break Istok Totic was yellow card for what the ref seemed to consider a dangerous tackle.
HT CQP14 - Kelso 12
Immediately on the the resumption Kelso retook the lead from a penalty in front of the posts. Ten minutes later Kelso increased their lead through their third try. Again CQP responded quickly with an unconverted try from close range with Totic getting the credit. Kelso then got their try bonus three minutes later. This was followed by a second try for Jake Graham which gave CQP their four try bonus and left Kelso with a three point lead. The game moved on with both sides trying to gain the necessary points to secure victory but with only four minutes left Kelso scored again and in the final play added a sixth try.
Final score Kelso 39 (5 points) CQP 24 ( 1 point)
As in many previous games CQP seemed to concede more penalties than they were awarded. They also seem to have developed the habit of losing tries in the final play. Hopefully as the injury list reduces they will again find a way to come out on top. Next up Aberdeen GSFP away. On the adjoining pitch the two's kept hold of their fourth place in their league with a substantial win over Kelso's seconds.
