CQP end season with a flourish in seven try romp against Kelso. Played in front of a decent crowd CQP rounded off their season with a last minute try by Andy Scott which saw him take a the ball at full pace from a Wayne Burrows pass to put the result beyond doubt with a score of 43 - 30. The game went one way then the other in a highly entertaining afternoon of rugby.

The match opened with Kelso very much on the front foot securing two successful penalties in the first ten minutes before an interception by Jonny Campion playing on the right wing saw the score move to 6-5 in Kelso's favour. With fifteen minutes playedKelso increased their lead to 13-5 but six minutes later CQP were awarded a penalty in front of the posts but chose to put the ball into touch, took their own ball and got over close to the posts with Juan getting the credit. The try was duly converted and Kelso's lead dropped to one point. Shortly after that a move which involved a.bit of passing magic by Andy Scott saw Gregor Davidson score CQP'S third try. Just before the break Kelso hit back and at the interval the score stood 20-19 in Kelso's favour.

The second half commenced with Wayne Burrows replacing Liam Howieson. Wayne then started a lovely move down the left side fed out to Peter Hollier who in turn fed to Anthony Nyangweso who went over in the left corner. The conversion attempt was on target but fell short and CQP were back in the lead 24-20. With ten minutes of the second half played Chris Wicks was sin binned and shortly after this Kelso took a 25-24 lead which they then increased to 30-24. At Kelso's request the scrums which CQP had been dominating went uncontested but CQP added a fifth try courtesy of David Irvine to move the score to 30-29. With eight minutes left Chris Wicks went over for try number six which was converted to give CQP back the lead and then as stated at the beginning Andy Scott ran in a splendid seventh try to put the result beyond doubt and the final whistle blew to end this first class ding dong contest with our border friends from Kelso and draw this exhilarating season
to a conclusion. Our experience has shown that there is a definite gap in the quality of opposition between National 1 and National 2. Our lads will have learned a great deal from this season and hopefully this will be reflected in their performance next season.

Final score CQP 43 (5points). Kelso 30 (1point). It has been a pleasure to report on this season's games. Well done to all those players who featured and to the first class coaching team who supported them.
