This match doubled up as the second leg of the cup match and the normal league game. The match was attended by a good sized crowd with a strong contingent from Dumbreck.

Both sides fought hard for supremacy in the opening stages and twenty seven minutes had elapsed before the first score which was a converted try to GHA. The game continued with neither side really dominating. With GHA down to fourteen players following a yellow card Wayne Burrows got across the GHA line for an unconverted try.

HT score GHA 7 - CQP 5

It only took GHA three minutes to get their second try which was converted. Following a GHA yellow card CQP reduced the leeway with a take and drive try in the left corner which was unconverted. On the fifty fourth minute GHA got their third try, again converted. With three quarters of the game played GHA secured their try bonus. Again the try was converted. It was starting to look as though this was not to be CQPs day. This was followed by the best try of the day when a fine passing move by GHA saw the ball moved from right to left for a fifth GHA try.again converted. CQP hit back with a second try by Wayne Burrows between the posts. The ball was popped over the bar and the score moved to 35-17 in GHA’s favour. Before the end GHA added a sixth try when they broke through a tiring CQP defence. The GHA kicker maintained his 100 per cent record leaving the final score at GHA 42 - CQP 17.

There is no doubt that GHA thoroughly deserved their victory. This was a disappointing display by a CQP team which had travelled to Braidholm hoping to pick up some points to add to those secured the previous week vs Selkirk.
CQP’s next match is away to Musselburgh. This will be vital game for both teams as they strive to avoid relegation.
