The match took place in dry condition with a light wind blowing downfield. Falkirk had lost two of their first three league games but had subsequently won six games on the trot. CQP for their part had started poorly but had achieved victory in their two most recent games. Graham Williamson was missing from the CQP line up and Calum Dickson was a late call off.
It only took Falkirk four minutes to get across the CQP line. The difficult conversion was missed. A few minutes later CQP successfully converted a penalty courtesy of Wayne Burrows who was back in at stand off. Falkirk then scored a second unconverted try before Wayne knocked a second penalty over. A couple of minutes later CQP forward pressure saw Cameron Rennie score for CQP. Wayne converted to move the score to 15-13 in Falkirk’s favour with 34 minutes played. Falkirk then increased their lead to five points before getting their bonus point try just before the break.

Whereas CQP were in the game in the first half the second half was a completely different story. In this half Falkirk were dominant adding eight more tries through the power and pace of their backs. CQP only really featured in this half for five minutes at the end of which Stewart Hamilton scored a well taken unconverted try. As the final whistle neared it was clear that Falkirk were finding it easier and easier to break through CQP’s defence.
FT Falkirk 75- CQP 18.
As a result of Peebles losing narrowly away to Lasswade Falkirk have now moved up to second top spot. It is difficult to be sure if this very heavy defeat was the result of CQP having an off day or Falkirk having a really good one. It would not be the least surprising to see Falkirk move to the top of the league as they played extremely well in this game.
