CQP gain convincing win over Boroughmuir to move up to third bottom of table

CQP had to make two enforced changes with Stewart Hamilton and Wayne Burrows ruled out through injury. David McCartney took over at ten and Brown moved into the centre with Jacob Adamson coming in on the wing. Weather conditions were benign with only a very slight wind and no rain.

It took CQP only eight minutes to score their first try curtesy of Dante Alessandri, David McCartney converted. Five minutes later Jacob Adamson added a second also converted to give CQP a fourteen point lead. The lead increased to twenty one points when Calum Dickson chased in a through ball. A couple of minutes later saw Jacob Adamson get his second try following a good break by Geebs. Just after the half hour mark CQP went down to fourteen men when Calum Dickson was sent to the bin, 'Muir scored shortly after this and the score moved to 28-7. CQP added seven more points when the forwards mauled over the 'Muir line with Fraser Paul getting the touchdown.

After the restart 'Muir had a spell on top and CQP found themselves stuck in their own twenty two. Good defensive tackling however ensured that no points were conceded in this period. With fifty five minutes played Peter Hollier was binned for a deliberate knock on in the centre of the field. With sixty five minutes played the CQP mauled over the 'Muir line with number eight JP Thomson getting the score which David McCartney once again converted. After seventy minutes 'Muir went down to fourteen and in the last ten minutes CQP added two unconverted tries the first scored by Andrew Guthrie following half a dozen passes across the back line. In the last play CQP from a set piece pushed 'Muir over their own line with Cameron McKenzie getting the try.

This was an emphatic victory over 'Muir and moves CQP to third bottom. A feature of the game was the excellent conversion kicking by David McCartney. CQP’s defensive tackling was generally very good. By the end of the game CQP’s pack was dominant.
