With Accies lying second top of the league and CQP sitting second bottom the expectation had to be that it would be a home win. CQP were without both Calum Dickson and Graeme Docherty. In addition last season’s stand off Wayne Burrows was still not available. The selected team showed that Fraser Paul had moved into the back row from hooker but he continued to take the CQP throw ins at the line out. Scott Douglas had gone into the second row to allow Peter Hollier to move into the back row. The first half was dominated by Accies who must have spent at least eighty percent of the half in CQP’s half. Despite Accies dominance they only turned round three points ahead due to determined CQP tackling.

It only took Accies two minutes to record a try in the second half and a further six minutes to get their second. Accies four try bonus was secured after fifty eight minutes but CQP finally opened their account with a try following a spell of good forward pressure when Cameron Rennie got over the Accies line. Unfortunately Aj Guthrie was unable to convert. With less than ten minutes left to play Accies went down to fourteen players as a result of a yellow card. CQP were not able to capitalise on this and just before the end Accies secured their fifth try.

Accies thoroughly deserved their victory and as a result of the Peebles game being postponed now sit top of the league.
