Cartha QP v Marr Sat 10th November 2018.

Injury list gets bigger as CQP go down to second placed Marr.

Prior to the kick off Jake Graham sustained a knock which meant he was unable to start. Jake was replaced by Stewart Hamilton. During the course of the game Jonny Campion, Graham Williamson and Jacob Addison all went off injured.

The game took place in dry conditions and CQP kicked off. After only eight minutes Marr opened the scoring with an unconverted try. Just before the end of the first quarter CQP mounted a very good attack which lead to the final pass going to Jacob Addison who crossed the line and dummied his touch down before grounding the ball ten metres closer to the posts. The conversion attempt by Gregor Davidson was pulled to the left and the score was now level at 5 apiece. Jacob Addison went off to be replaced by Lachie Stout who went to fullback with Etienne Boudouresques going onto the left wing. The next score went to Marr with a converted try followed by a penalty to CQP to move the score to 12-8. With a couple of minutes of first half play left Marr scored again and before the HT whistle went Marr got their bonus fourth try to leave the score at the break 24-8 to the visitors.

Early in the second half Graham Williamson sustained an ankle injury and was replaced by Ewan Manson making his first team debut. With three quarters of the game payed CQP seemed have scored a good try but it was chalked off for crossing. Marr scored their fifth try with twenty seven minutes played but CQP kept plugging away and before the end had Marr pinned in their five metre zone. Marr lost a player to the bin for infringements in the scrum and CQP were awarded a penalty try to move the score to 29-15 where it stood at no side. Conclusion. Marr deserved to win this game but given that before the game they were sitting second top of the league and CQP were second bottom the margin of CQP's defeat probably fairly represented the difference between the teams.

CQP are paying a very heavy price for such an extensive injury list if this list could show a significant reduction there is no reason why CQP could not start to pick up some victories. Next up GHA this Friday evening at 7.30pm. This game will also form the second leg of the newly installed Billy Barnes Trophy. The expectation is that this game will attract our biggest home crowd of the season so early arrival is recommended.

The view from the touchline was that the ref had a good game
