It is with deepest regret that I have to inform members of the passing of one of Cartha QP 's great players, an ever present, hugely popular and well known club character, W.G. Barnes.

Billy was introduced to rugby as a pupil at Allan Glen's and joined "Cartha Athletic Club Rugby Section" as it was then, in 1967. He played on through the creation of Cartha Queens Park RFC in 1974 and enjoyed great success as a player, Club Captain and Head Coach. His coaching career extended beyond Dumbreck to Hutchesons' Aloysians. In all his time in rugby he constantly pushed for excellence in himself and in those players around him. He was a born winner.

Off the field Billy was an exceptional story teller who brightened up the room when he walked in. He will be sadly missed.

Our kindest wishes and deepest sympathy is extended to Billy's wife Cathy, his sons Russell and Iain, granddaughters Catriona and Samantha, and and the rest of the family.

The funeral service will take place on Friday 18th August at 4pm at the Linn crematorium folllowed by the Rugby Club. The family have asked that there are no floral tributes please. A retiral collection will be taken for Charity.
